Artist in Restaurant 2011

Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva is Pied à Terre's first Artist in Restaurant. An artist who embodies the aims and spirit of the residency, Elpida proposed to explore new working methods and materials in her residency; delving into the supplies, refuse and recycling practices of the restaurant.

 

We were excited by her proposal to explore the potential connections between food, recycling and art. She displays a particular resonance with the character of Pied à Terre, its staff and clientele, while being determined to challenge our preconceived ideas about what art is and how it can be created.

 

This has been an exciting year and, watching the residency develop, and we look forward to introducing a new audience to the work that she creates within the vibrant and innovative environment of the restaurant.
